5 things to consider when buying curtains
As any manufacturer will tell you that curtains make a room – but only when they’re chosen correctly. When it comes to window treatments, it is custom-made against color and fabric, length and lining, and off-the-shelf.
1) Color and fabric
Fabrics are an important part of choosing curtains because the materials determine how well your curtains will work and hold up over time.
“If very heavy then they are not brittle and if they’re really light, they may not lie well.
Designers suggest keeping fabric up to the window in the fabric showroom. “It’s like a compromise at the top and the pleasure is what makes the drapery. If starts to flame-like pieces of crinoline, then it doesn’t fall on the window.
Also, keep in mind that sun exposure can cause clothing to fade over time. If there is too much light in the room in question, it is better to avoid bright colors, as they will fade quickly.
2) Length and lining
Measure the top of the window with a hanging height from the curtain to the floor. For a more traditional look, the curtain is trimmed slightly on the floor; you may want to add another two or three inches to your length. For a modern, crisp look, flush with the panel floor.
When measuring the width of your window, be sure to add four to eight inches on either side or double the total number to ensure the completeness of the curtain. When the curtains open, you won’t block window panes and they won’t get in the middle of the way.”
If you want to use curtains to turn off the sun, even extra inches around the perimeter of your window frame can help prevent light.
3) The washing machine v/s just dry wash
Decide if you are only going to buy dry-washer machine friendly curtains – it will save you time and money in the long run. Keep in mind that according to consumer reports, you can destroy high-quality curtains by trying to wash them.
4) Off-shell or custom modes
Custom window treatments offer many benefits: You can customize the dimensions to your window size and create the appropriate look like a fully fitted suite. Custom panels come in endless design options from materials to title style. However, with these options, the off-the-shelf curtain panel makes a significant price difference.
5) Type
Last but not least is the curtain type. Having a definite idea about the person, their age, interests, and style, it is easy to choose a specific type of curtain design. Sometimes a person’s preference can be blinder than the curtain. Most of the time people prefer Venetian blind or Roman blind, most of them prefer eyelet curtains for their look.
The options are endless, but going through the selection process is easier than regretting a hasty purchase!
