\The trend for all quality and certification combined is electronics, the best brands will offer you quality and reliable systems. The safes with electronic locks are powered by batteries (batteries), but the majority of them have an emergency system allowing to power from outside or certain models with an emergency key.
But mechanical models are still available, the ideal being to choose a key lock combined with a disc type code or 3 buttons.
The models of key-only security safes can however offer the same resistance, but the risk is important if someone steals your key.
The installation
The risk is not that you discover your safe, but rather that a burglar prevails. Indeed, some criminals prefer to get rid of your safe in order to have plenty of time to open it elsewhere.
The fixing of a safe is therefore essential, either you master this art, or have it done by a professional. Do not underestimate this parameter, it is as essential as the quality of resistance.
For obvious reasons, we will not disclose here the techniques for the proper attachment of a safe.
How to choose your approved safe
To protect cash , computer data on hard drives, confidential documents, precious objects such as jewelry or sensitive equipment such as weapons or rifles , nothing better than an approved safe. It should be chosen with great care, based on specific criteria. What should you keep in mind when purchasing an approved safe?
Choose the safe according to its volume, weight and resistance
Whether you are a business or an individual, your needs are not the same. It all depends on the content to be stored. Take into consideration the interior and exterior opening of the safe. Prefer a small equipment of 3 liters for small objects (jewelry, passport), from 7 to 20 liters for medium-sized objects (computer, 4A paper) or around 70 liters for bulky objects for better archiving. In all cases, allow an additional 20% space for later storage.
In order to define the resistance level of the safe, consider that it has fire or theft approval. Please note that theft resistance labels are provided to all approved safes: A2P, ECB.S or VDS.
The weight of the safe determines where the equipment will be installed. Prefer an installation on a concrete slab. If you need to attach it to a wall, prefer a load-bearing wall. To avoid any risk of removal, fixing to the floor or back is recommended.
Choose the safe according to the type of security and door
Essential criteria must be considered against any risk of fire or burglary, in particular the thickness of the door and that of the walls, but also the frame reinforcements. We distinguish four security levels, from 1 to 4. If the first level is standard, note that a level 3 or 4 safe generally obeys NF017 standards.
Clearly, its fireproof character helps protect your objects against fire. As for an intermediate level safe, it is effective against any sinking. If you have to store hard disks and CDs, they will not be able to withstand more than 50 ° C. You risk losing your data.
