Introduction
Although there are many sites for buying and selling products, eBay has a unique history of being popular, weird, and creepy at the same time. Yes, there have been many advertisements posted on eBay that range from a ghost in a jar to the hair of a dead child that had people freaked out, and astonishingly, some of them got sold for a good price. In this article, Matthew Davies discusses some of the creepiest things ever found on eBay that would certainly blow your mind.
The Items
Here are the creepiest things found on eBay listed below:
- Ghost in a Jar- In 2003, a seller on eBay posted the picture of a jar and claimed that he found it in an “old abandoned cemetery” inside a wooden box. There was another jar inside, similar in every way to the one posted but the seller broke it accidentally. And then, according to the seller’s claim, a “black mist or something seeped out” and he was attacked by a dangerous black spirit that occasionally appears when the jar is near. After the ad came up alongside the story, the ghost jar went viral and received the winning bid of a huge $50,922. The buyer never paid up, however.
- Haunted Dolls- There’s not one but numerous haunted dolls available on eBay with the description of their stories and origins. The sellers in this considerably long list of haunted dolls have their own stories to share- the names of the spirits possessing them, their nature and personalities, and how they might carry on haunting. This was done to make the auction products more intriguing for the buyers. Prices range from 25 to several thousand dollars. You can go for bidding if you want to have your own Annabelle or Chucky inside your showcase staring at you every time you enter that room!
- Asylum Knobs- Asylums are some of the most haunted places in the world- we’ve read in books, seen in movies. Selling asylum knobs might symbolize the handing over of a curse that would open the gateway to a world of chaos, insanity, and horror for the buyer. The seller warns that they belong to an abandoned asylum where there were whispers of “strange lights at night and horrid noises”. These are definitely not the decorative knobs you’d wish to have in an antique collection.
- Child’s Memory Box, with Hair inside- Perhaps the creepiest, and if not, the most disturbing ad in this list is the memory box of a child that was put for sale in 2013. The box was never sold and for good reasons. The box contained books, photographs, and toys of the dead child alongside a few locks of his hair.
Conclusion
Matthew Davies suggests you understand that spending money on things that would freak you out or force you to abandon them sooner or later, makes no sense. It is okay to love horror, and it’s fine to enjoy bone-chilling stories, movies, and arts. But being obsessed with horror can affect your sanity. Stay away from such things unless you have a particular purpose.
