Human Biology Basics Everyone Should Know

Biology is the foundation for the different further scientific studies and other related to the research and development in the field of Biology. Biology is the most interesting and the most favourite subject for most of the students in their academics, which is related to life, nature, experiments, inventions and a lot more.

What is human Biology?

Human biology is the most complicated and mind-boggling subject, which deals with the study of the complicated processes, which are accomplished by the cells, tissues and other organ systems in the human body for every second.

To explore more briefly into this human biology, we all should have a good foundation in Biology and other important fundamental concepts and terminologies.

Here in this article let us learn some basic facts and information related to the human body parts, their structures and functions.

Basics about Human Biology

  1. There are around 38 trillion cells in the human body. We are born with 300 bones which are fused 206 as we grow old.
  1. Our body totally consists of 12 organ systems that work together to ensure the proper functioning of our body.
  1. The liver is the largest internal organ in the human body, which performs over 400 to 500 functions to keep our body healthy.
  2. A human brain is filled with 80% of water, which makes up about 2% of a human’s total body weight. The human brain functions harder during the night while we are asleep than during the day while we are awake. Thus we burn more calories while sleeping than we are awake.
  1. The hair, skin, nails and exocrine glands are collectively called the integumentary system. This system functions as a protective barrier from the external environment by preventing the entry of diseases causing pathogens.
  1. The food we eat is digested by the digestive system and is responsible for converting the food nutrients into energy, which are essential for the body.
  1. The human heart is the most hard-working organ of our body. The human heart functions continuously from the birth of an individual until death by transporting blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body.
  1. We, humans, have a specialized system called the immune system, which acts as a defence system by defending our body from the invading pathogens and other infectious disease-causing microbes.
  1. Compared to plants, both humans and animals move, jump, run, walk, hop and all other locomotor activities are controlled by the muscular system. Apart from the locomotion, this system also helps in the maintenance of our body posture and blood circulation all over the body.
  1. Human physiology mainly deals with the study about the physical, mechanical, and biochemical function of a human body organ system, including the specialized functions of the vital organ system, function of ear, eyes, skin, other sense organs and cellular functions.
